Construction on a project including two new on-campus student residence halls in Medford, MA has begun at Tufts University. Tufts hired Capstone Development Partners as developer. Capstone’s partners on the project include Provident Resources Group, Elkus Manfredi Architects, Erland Construction, Steven Winter & Associates and Barclays.
Scheduled to open for the fall 2027 semester and house 664 students, the two-residence hall project will meet critical housing demands for upper-division students. The project is a P3 collaboration between Tufts and Capstone, who, along with Provident, are responsible for the financing, design, construction, and eventual operational responsibilities for the buildings on a ground lease from the university.
“While Capstone and Provident are in charge of delivering and operating this project, with Tufts remaining ‘arm’s length,’ Tufts has been a great partner that committed to working with project neighbors and the City of Medford to invest in its campus and the Boston Avenue Project to enhance the area and help ensure this transformational project is a success for all,” said Walker May, Capstone EVP and project executive.
