- The next-generation Sandero may retain the same engine options as the current car.
- These renderings show the new model with an overhauled front fascia and sides.
Earlier this month, Dacia refreshed the Sandero and Sandero Stepway with fresh new looks for the second time in just three years. As it turns out, this will be the last time the current model is refreshed, as an all-new generation is expected to launch in 2028 – and it could end up looking like this.
These renderings depict the next Sandero in high-riding Stepway guise, but the standard hatch will also look very similar. Compared to the recent facelift, this new model does look a little more modern, although we’re not convinced it actually looks any better.

Given that Dacia has yet to start testing the next Sandero in public, these renderings from Kolesa are purely speculative, and it’s entirely possible the new Stepway won’t look anything like this. Compared to the current model, the front-end of this one stands out thanks to new headlights completed with thin DRLs. There is also a new black lower grille and small vertical air curtains.
Overall, we don’t mind the front. However, the design of the sides is a little odd. Whereas the current model has soft curves and flared arches at the front and rear, the Sandero depicted here has straighter lines, somewhat reminding us of the Kia Tasman, and we all know how controversial the design of it has proven to be.

Regardless of how the 2028 Sandero and Sandero Stepway look, it is expected to offer similar powertrain options to the current model. That means base models should be sold with a 1.0-liter TCe turbo engine delivering 110 hp, while a more powerful 1.2-liter three-cylinder with 120 hp is also expected.
In addition, recent reports suggest the current Sandero Stepway could be sold with a hybrid powertrain, and the next-generation model probably will be too. This powertrain is expected to include a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine working alongside an electric motor and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. All up, it should be good for 155 hp.
