A five-member development is moving forward on an ambitious mixed-use project in Vine City. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports the team plans to redevelop an 8-acre site that sits north of Clark Atlanta University’s football field with a mix of uses, including a new student center for Morris Brown College; a 100-room hotel; 200 mixed-income residences; and retail and nonprofit space.
The team, called Resurgence Commercial Partners consists of ImpactData, Gibraltar Capital Partners, The Miles Development Group, Mercy Housing and Cityscape.
Invest Atlanta has owned the site since 2014, when it purchased it for about $3.5 million from Morris Brown. Negotiations are ongoing between Resurgence Commercial Partners and Invest Atlanta regarding a ground lease. The site consists of the Morris Brown’s old student center — also called the Hickman Center – and an old U.S. Postal Service facility.
Invest Atlanta chose the development team in November 2025 partly because it envisioned the expansion and support of nearby Morris Brown College.
