Some engines and engine families will go for decades, like the 4G15 Mitsubishi Orion engine, which debuted in the mid-1980s in cars like the Hyundai Excel, and which is still in use today in Chinese SUVs. Others have a fairly brief run and may wind up completely forgotten after their day in the sun. Some of our favorites are those that were only around for five, ten years, but had a major impact in that time. We’re talking about engine families like the Dodge Magnums (not to be confused with the cars and SUVs of the same name).
