Two years ago, we had a chance to drive a fully restored and modernized Mercedes-Benz G-Class from a shop called the Expedition Motor Company. Founded by Alex Levin in New Jersey, EMC set out to offer a classic G-Wagen experience with some modern amenities and reliability. That meant an original five-cylinder diesel engine, a manual transmission (or an automatic if you really needed it), a soft top, and only two doors.
