
The landscape for United States-built electric vehicles in the country is set to change considerably within the next few months, as the US government is set to make buying them more costly. As of the time of writing in July 2025, the government offers a $7,500 tax credit for those who purchase an EV with at least 60% of its materials sourced from the US or a nation that has a free-trade agreement with the country, and also undergoes final assembly in the US.
