Discount retailer Five Below will use former Party City locations to expand into Washington State. The Puget Sound Business Journal reported that the Philadelphia-based chain will open four Seattle-area stores along with three in central and eastern Washington.
The four Puget Sound locations include 31417 Pacific Hwy. S. in Federal Way, 10408 156th St. E. in Puyallup, 2617 196th SW St. in Lynnwood and 1402 SE Everett Mall Way in Everett. Other locations include Spokane Valley, Richland and Yakima/Union Gap.
Party City closed all of its stores in February after filing for bankruptcy a few weeks earlier. It operated 10 locations in the Seattle area and a total of 16 across the state.
Five Below took over a total of 44 Party City leases at a bankruptcy auction. It operates 1,800 stores nationwide but has yet to open in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska or Hawaii.
Dollar Tree is also expected to backfill some Seattle-area Party City locations.
