Over the past 15 years, one Ford powertrain has left a larger mark than any other: the ubiquitous 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Tracing its roots back to 2009 under the hoods of models like the Lincoln MKS and Ford Flex, the powertrain was touted as having the performance of a V8, with the fuel economy of a V6. Over the years, the powertrain has evolved, undergoing multiple changes throughout its life, and each time it has grown stronger, more robust, and more capable. Today, it can be found under the hood of numerous Blue Oval models, from the family-friendly Explorer, to the beloved F-150, and even the beastly Ford GT.
