If you’ve been following the engine teardown videos by Eric at the I Do Cars YouTube channel, you’ll know the chief cause of failure is some measure of oil starvation. However, for this video he’s pulling apart a fairly new 2.5-liter Turbo Smartstream G4KR engine, typically found in rear-wheel-drive Genesis and Kia models. It’s completely seized up at just over 30,000 miles, and it doesn’t show any of the typical signs of failure.
