While the Silverado began its life as the top trim level of the Chevrolet C/K pickup, the GMC Sierra 1500 was born as its own model – just adjacent to the C/K. Almost everybody knows the Sierra as a more “upscale” version of the Silverado, but there’s more to it than that. Despite sharing a platform with its Chevy sibling, the Sierra 1500 is a half-ton pickup with its own story to tell; in fact, it came out over a decade before the Silverado. Since then, the GMC Sierra 1500 generations have had their ups and downs like every other truck.
