- The Harley’s massive weight may have saved the rider during the deer collision.
- Things could have ended far worse, as the biker reportedly wasn’t wearing a helmet.
- His friend riding behind crashed as well but escaped without any serious injuries.
Riding a motorcycle can be very dangerous. Not only do you have to be constantly prepared for drivers to cut you off or change lanes in front of you, but you also have to be prepared to deal with unexpected wildlife running across the road. A biker in the US has been fortunate to tell the tale after narrowly avoiding what could have been a serious crash after he slammed into a deer.
The incident occurred on June 6, when Kyle Hamilton was riding along a beautiful mountain pass near Hulett, Wyoming. His friend was riding behind, and a camera mounted to his motorcycle captured the moment a young deer ran across the road directly into the path of Hamilton.

With virtually no time to react, Hamilton had to accept his fate: he was going to hit the deer. He smashed directly into it, but, remarkably, did not fall off his heavy 2023 Harley-Davidson Street Glide. Had he been riding a smaller motorcycle, he may not have been so lucky. Unfortunately, his friend riding behind was struck and dumped his bike, but avoided any serious injuries.
Speaking with Cowboy State Daily, Hamilton said he was riding at the front of a group at around 55 mph at the moment of impact. He pulled over shortly after the video cut out and helped pull the deer’s carcass off the road. Extensive damage was done to the front end of his bike, and it will need to be repaired. Either that or the bike will need to be replaced.
The crash could have been fatal very easily. It doesn’t appear as though Hamilton was wearing a helmet at the time, and had he fallen off, he could have easily cracked his skull on the pavement.
