
When it arrives sometime next year, the Porsche Cayenne Electric will be the first car in the U.S. market to be able to recharge wirelessly. Shown during a demonstration at IAA Mobility in Munich last month, the technology brings the same inductive charging found in mobile phones and earbuds to a much larger scale, allowing the Cayenne to recharge at a thoroughly respectable 11 kilowatts – all without wrangling a heavy charging cable. But unlike many new technologies, the Porsche SUV’s tech isn’t expected to trickle into the Macan Electric or Taycan for one very big (or small, rather) reason: space.
