We give Heybike Ranger S an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars.
Every owner of an active pet has struggled to give their beloved companion enough exercise during a busy work week. Luckily, Heybike is here to help with their wide-ranging line of e-bikes, including the Mars 2.0, Ranger S, Horizon, ALPHA, Tyson, Cityrun, Hauler, Hero, and Brawn.
With four large, active dogs and four outdoorsy cats, I always have an adventure buddy. Whether your family is big or small, Heybike offers bikes and pet baskets to suit your furry friends’ needs. Unfortunately, the dedicated pet bike basket was out of stock at the time of this review, but their metal baskets still delivered plenty of function for outdoor adventuring with my pets.
A relatively new company, Heybike blends classic electric bike features with innovative technology, offering a mountain of accessories to elevate your riding experience.

About Heybike
Who Makes Heybike and Where is it Produced?
Heybike’s journey started in Ontario in 2021 with their official release, and they’ve been climbing (literally and figuratively) ever since. Heybike’s e-bikes are manufactured in China and distributed from warehouses throughout the 48 continental States and Canada.
Heybike’s mission is to enable riders to “Let their joy out.” As their slogan suggests, whether it’s in-city riding or off-road adventuring, Heybike strives to equip their riders with a dependable, affordable ride with optional accessories.
In comparison to other e-bikes on the market, Heybike offers similar functionality and perks, but without the hefty price tag.
Which Types of Pets is Heybike’s Ranger S Best Suited For?
The Heybike Ranger S is best suited for small to medium pets. Particularly cats and small dogs, that are already comfortable with travel and confinement in a secure basket or carrier. It’s a strong option for pets who don’t mind movement, noise, or speed and are used to riding in strollers, backpacks, or other forms of transport.
Its fat tires and front suspension offer a smooth ride across trails, pavement, and light off-road terrain, making it ideal for active pet parents who want to include their companions in longer outdoor adventures. With a high max speed and a strong Pedal Assist System (PAS), pets must be well-secured and ideally already accustomed to motion.
If your pet is nervous, reactive, or not used to being confined, this e-bike may not be the best choice until they’ve had some gradual acclimation to basket riding.
Before considering the Ranger S for your cat, check that their weight is appropriate for the basket’s capacity and safety.

Assembly
The Ranger S comes partially pre-assembled. You’ll need to install the front wheel, handlebars, pedals, headlight, fenders, and baskets.
If you’re unfamiliar with disc brakes or mounting hardware, the assembly instructions in the user guide might seem vague. I found the frame heavy and had trouble mounting the front wheel onto the fork alone. Thankfully, Heybike’s YouTube channel offers helpful assembly videos.
I also reached out to Heybike’s support team during the process. They were quick to respond and helpful with my questions. Before my first ride, I took the bike to a local e-bike shop to ensure everything was safely assembled.

On the display screen, you will see:

Our Experience With Heybike Ranger S
I live on a farm, so freedom and a love for the great outdoors come built into me. Heybike’s Ranger S makes it possible to bring the farm to the open road.
Heybike was delivered to my door, here in the mountains of BC, Canada. The box is slightly heavier than the Heybike itself, and its size makes moving it a two-person job. While unboxing, I was pleased to see the hardware specific to a certain piece was separated and attached to the required parts. If you’re familiar with bike assembly, electric or otherwise, the Ranger S’s User Manual will guide you through setup. Though, as someone who had never assembled an e-bike before, I found the manual a bit sparse in places. That being said, Heybike’s team was very responsive to any questions I had.
After assembly of the bike, I attached the baskets. At the time of this review, Heybike did not have the pet basket in stock in Canada, so I had both the metal open-bottom baskets attached. If your cat is not in a carrier, the open bottom baskets will not be suitable for safe transport. However, a pet-safe backpack does fit into the rear basket with the ability to secure the carrier to the rungs.
I used the Ranger S’s basket to carry extra water, a bowl, food, and treats while carrying my cats, Mo and Annie, in a pet carrier backpack (not included). The Ranger S’s fat tires allow for added stability, and the front shock absorption limited any cat-jostling while on our adventures. The front and rear baskets comfortably fit leashes and harnesses, should you be going on an extended outing. If I were to purchase baskets again for the Ranger S, I would likely choose the closed bottom option for storage ease.
Keep in mind, this bike, prior to the baskets or being loaded, is nearing 70 lbs; therefore, lifting it into a truck is a chore. A bike rack with a ramp would be preferable. With both metal baskets attached, the bike does not fold properly and could lead to scratches on your fenders.
Overall, the Ranger S is an exceptionally smooth ride for touring with your feline friend. Its step-through design and absorbent shocks make maneuvering with a carrier easy and less cumbersome than traditional bike designs.
Conclusion
Heybike’s Ranger S is an overall reasonably priced e-bike for recreational riding, perfect for pet-friendly adventures. Just be sure to use an enclosed carrier for your cat’s safety, and enjoy a smooth ride on both pavement and packed trails.
This summer, feel confident putting a few miles on the Ranger S with fat tires beneath you, front suspension smoothing the ride, your cat by your side, and the wind in their fur.
