Few models get classic muscle car enthusiasts quite as excited as a Camaro Z/28, but finding an original, unmolested example isn’t easy. Fortunately for any prospective buyers out there, we’ve done the legwork and found what could be one of the finest Z/28s in the United States.

This particular Camaro is a 1984 model, currently listed on Hagerty’s marketplace. It’s located in Zebulon, North Carolina, and while that might be a bit off the beaten path, this is the kind of car that could justify a cross-state trip.
Barely Broken In
The odometer tells the real story here: just 306 miles, or 492 kilometers, since new. For a car over four decades old, that figure borders on unbelievable.
The listing reveals that it was initially delivered to a Chevrolet dealership in Pennsylvania and later resided in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and California before joining the current owner’s collection last year.
There’s no detailed record of how it was stored or serviced through the years, but the visuals speak volumes. Every panel and trim piece looks as crisp and clean as the day it left the factory floor.

Some Camaro Z/28s from this era came fitted with 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 delivering a paltry 145 hp, but this car has the L69 High Output eight-cylinder, which was rated at 190 hp. You’re not going to set the tires on fire, but it’s something.
The downside of having this engine is that it comes hooked up to a four-speed automatic transmission only, meaning this Z/28 doesn’t have a stick shift, which may or may not be a sticking point for some.
The black paint appears pristine and doesn’t seem to have any notable blemishes, scratches, or dents. Then there’s the cabin that’s trimmed in cream-colored vinyl with fabric seat bolsters and headrests. The seats show no visible signs of wear, and there aren’t even the slightest hints of cracks or creases.
With less than a day left before the auction wraps up, anyone seriously considering a piece of 1980s performance history might want to move quickly. Opportunities like this don’t linger long. Check out the listing over here.
