Hines has its sights set on a 3.87-acre property in SouthPark to redevelop into something much larger. The site, currently a single-story retail building, could eventually be developed into a mixed-use complex featuring residential and office spaces, as well as above-ground-floor retail and restaurants. Hines will need a rezoning to make that happen.
The Charlotte Business Journal reports the rezoning would take the two-parcel site at 6601 and 6555 Carnegie boulevards (photo), just across the street from SouthPark mall, from mixed-use development and neighborhood business to regional activity center.
The site is currently owned by Camdee Properties I.
Hines has $91.8 billion in assets under management spanning 30 countries. It has six properties in North Carolina in its portfolio. That includes Blu South, a 551-unit townhome development in Pineville acquired in April 2024 for $156.5 million. The property was Hines’ first build-to-rent acquisition in the U.S.
