It feels like it wasn’t that long ago that the front-wheel drive manual hot hatch market was, if not crowded, at least a little busier than it is now. Ask most people to name one, and they’ll probably cite something that recently went out of production, like the Volkswagen Golf GTI. But the GTI has lost its manual gearbox, which means there’s only one automaker still in the business of FWD manual hot hatches.
