One of my favourite drinks on a hot summer’s day is a long, tall, frosty ice coffee. I used to go to this Italian coffee shop in Duke of York’s Square which sold the most delectable ice coffee frappe slushie. Unfortunately, the place has shut down but I’m thrilled that I can now make my own version at home using the Ninja Creami Deluxe.
Making ice coffee slushie with the Ninja Creami
Using the Ninja Creami Deluxe, with a quick blend using my favourite coffee blend, it transformed my caffeine fix into a frosty delight that felt indulgent. no ice cubes watering things down, just pure, velvety chill.
Frappé is like a milky coffee slushie, which no other high street coffee shops have been able to replicate. Now that I have the Ninja Creami Deluxe, I can now make my own iced coffee frappe whenever I like at home. If you like iced coffee, this version beats the iced coffee with just ice cubes. This is definitely the elevated version. Just know that the Frappé function on the Ninja Creami is different from this Greek version.
This is another simple recipe and an alternate way to use the Ninja Creami Deluxe machine. All it takes is a good coffee base, add milk or plant-based alternatives as you like, and freeze for 24 hours.
You can read my review of the Ninja Creami Deluxe Ice Cream machine here.
I used one tub that makes 3 full tall glasses of frappes. You can have frappes on tap if you have 2 or more tubs on the go at a time. That’s assuming you don’t drink more than one tall glass a day. You can always buy more Ninja Creami Deluxe tubs to be able to have more recipes on the go.
Here are some other things you can make with your Ninja Creami Deluxe :
- Peach sorbet
- Strawberry Frozen Yoghurt
Frappe vs Frappuccino: What’s the Difference?
Both coffee drinks are variations of ice coffee, but their origins and textures set them apart:
- Frappé : A classic Greek iced coffee, typically made with instant coffee, sugar, and water shaken to a foam. It’s simple, foamy, and slightly bitter, popular on sun-drenched balconies from Athens to Santorini. When I was working in Athens, this was my mid-morning treat from the in-house cafenion.
- Frappuccino : A trademarked Starbucks creation blending espresso or coffee with milk, ice, and often whipped cream or syrups. It’s creamier and sweeter, designed for indulgence rather than caffeine efficiency.
- This iced coffee slushie lands somewhere in between. Customizable like a frappuccino, refreshing like a frappé, with the Creami’s texture magic giving it its own twist.
The Ninja Slushi machine
Alternatively, you can make a lot more with the new Ninja Slushi, the frozen drinks machine. If you like frozen drinks, like to make frozen cocktails or host lots of parties, this is the machine for you.
I know some people like to make frozen margaritas, Malibu and pineapple juice cocktails and more using this machine. If I had the space, I would love this for the warmer months.
How to make frozen coffee frappe slushie in a Ninja Creami Deluxe

You start with your favourite coffee, made with your Nespresso machine, Aeropress or Sage coffee machine. If not, you can use a quality instant coffee too. Add sugar to your own sweetness preference, top up with the milk of your choice. To make the frozen coffee, I add more milk and make it sweeter than a hot coffee as the flavours are muted after freezing.
After the 24 hours of required freezing, you can then take it out and process it in the Ninja Creami Deluxe using the Frrappé setting. It should look creamy and lush. But if it was too frozen and looks grainy after the first run, add a splash of milk and press the Re-Spin programme. When finished, spoon this into a tall glass and drink immediately. I usually have 2 containers on the go at a time that I will always have one ready to spin into a luscious coffee drink. This is heavenly, especially when we have a heat wave in London.

Ninja Creami Iced Coffee Frapuccino
Equipment
-
Kit you need: Ninja Creami Ice Cream Machine
Ingredients
- 240 ml strong brewed coffee cooled; cold brew works beautifully
- 120 ml whole milk or oat, almond, or soy for dairy-free
- 1 –2 tbsp caster sugar or maple syrup adjust to taste
- A pinch of sea salt optional, but rounds out the flavour
- ½ tsp vanilla extract optional for a subtle depth
Instructions
-
Brew & Cool: Brew your favourite coffee and let it cool completely. If you’re in a rush, pop it in the fridge for 20–30 minutes.
-
Mix It Up: In your Ninja Creami pint container, combine coffee, milk, sugar and vanilla if you’re using it. Stir well to fully dissolve the sugar. I usually make it a bit sweeter as the frozen drink won’t taste as sweet.
-
Freeze: Cover and freeze upright for at least 24 hours.
-
Spin Time: Insert the frozen pint bowl into the Ninja Creami, secure the outer bowl, and select the “Sorbet” or “Lite Ice Cream” setting for a smooth slushie texture.
-
Re-spin (Optional): If the result is too powdery or crumbly, simply hit “Re-Spin” once or twice for extra smoothness.
-
Serve: Spoon into a chilled glass and drink with a reusable straw. Or you can pimp it up with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or a dusting of cocoa powder if you’re feeling fancy.
Notes
For a Mocha twist , add 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder to the mix.
For high protein , substitute the milk for a vanilla or caramel protein shake.
Prefer it stronger? Brew your coffee at double strength or use espresso.
Lactose free? Use an alternative milk to make your coffee with.
The combinations and flavours are endless. Get creative and tell me what flavours you are going to make with your Ninja Creami.
