Again and again, history has shown us that it’s usually not a good idea to mess with the traditional recipe for a pickup truck. Among some of the most notable sales flops in recent memory, the pickup is well represented. The Chevrolet SSR? A sales disaster triggered by trying to blend a pickup truck with a sports roadster. The Subaru Baja? Cool looking toy, but the market spoke with their dollars, and the answer was “thanks, but no thanks”. The Lincoln Blackwood? Too luxurious, not useful enough.
