The GS was Lexus’ luxury mid-size sedan that took on rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series. The first of the Lexus GS generations dates back to 1993, when it was still based on the S140 Toyota Aristo platform, before joining the Toyota Crown platform in subsequent revisions. It was also the last car to be officially offered with the legendary 2JZ engine. Later generations were applauded for their mix of luxury and build quality while retaining a driver-centric feel.
