Manna, Inc. broke ground recently on S Street Village, an ambitious mixed-use redevelopment project that builds on a 40-year partnership with LISC, a national nonprofit financial institution.
Funded in part by LISC DC, S Street Village will bring 90 new energy-efficient, affordable apartments to the site. Manna and the church will return home to the new structure when it is built. Adjacent to the Metro, the new seven-story building sits on a lot previously occupied by outdated, vacant housing stock.
The new building will offer 40 one-bedroom units, 30 two-bedroom units, 18 three-bedroom units, and two four-bedroom apartments. Alongside LISC DC, financial partners include United Bank, Amazon’s Housing Fund, DC Housing Finance Agency, Sugar Creek Capital, Hudson Housing Capital and Capital One, and Affordable Homes & Communities. McCullough Construction expects to complete construction for S Street Village in the spring of 2027.
