Industrial Electric Manufacturing (IEM) is seeking to invest $200 million to develop a 500,000-square-foot facility at Brooks City Base. The San Antonio Business Journal reports the new plant would bring nearly 3,000 jobs to the Alamo City. It will be located near Brooks Global Crossing.
The California-based company is the largest independent full-line manufacturer of electrical distribution and control systems in North America.
The company is seeking tax abatements estimated to be $1.5 million from Bexar County as part of its negotiations.
Ecor Global, a building materials producer, plans to break ground on a $170 million facility in Elmendorf this year. The company plans to build the site, which is expected to employ about 150 people, at the Mission Rail Park on the southeast side of Bexar County. The facility will start at 300,000 square feet with a 240,000-square-foot expansion option.
