Expect To Pay Way Over $200k For This Beast
Land Rover has revealed yet another blacked-out SUV this month, following the Range Rover Sport SV Black and the Defender Octa Black. The new one is the ultimate boss, though: Say hello to the Range Rover SV Black. A basic Range Rover already starts at well over $100,000 – it’s the ultimate luxury SUV for many, and this SV Black builds on that with a more intimidating look. It’s quite literally the darkest Range Rover ever created, so let’s take a look at what’s changed.
Chrome? What Chrome?
Land Rover
Besides the LED daytime running lights, every single element of the SV Black’s exterior has been darkened. It all starts with the Narvik Gloss Black paint, but Land Rover didn’t stop there. In front, the grille gets a Gloss Black mesh, while the Range Rover lettering on the wood has the same finish.
Along the side, there are 23-inch Gloss Black wheels, and the calipers also get a black finish. As with the front, the rear Range Rover lettering has been darkened. The vertical, slit-like taillights are just about the only elements that manage to break up the sea of black.
Coupled with the latest Range Rover’s incredibly taut body, which is not interrupted by any vulgar openings or creases, and this SV Black model is undeniably striking.
Darkened Interior Retains Rich Materials
Soft, satin black finishes are found everywhere in the opulent cabin of the Range Rover SV Black. It comes with near-aniline Ebony leather upholstery with rectangle perforations and special upper stitching. The leather is complemented by black birch veneers, and the expanses of black are gently relieved by Moonlight Chrome details. The shift lever has a satin black ceramic finish.
For the first time, Body-And-Soul Seats are standard in the Range Rover SV. Not only comfortable, these seats are linked to the audio system to deliver a more immersive experience, or to relax occupants.
These seats are combined with the Sensory Floor, which uses new haptic feedback. These sensations are physically felt by occupants through the floor and seats, creating a “full-body audio experience”. The pulsations in the floor work with four transducers in the rear and front floor, getting the most out of the Meridian Signature Surround Sound system.
When not enjoying music, this system utilizes a wellness program with various settings, from Calm to Invigorating.
Familiar, Punchy V8
The SV Black gets the same twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 606 horsepower as the normal Range Rover SV. With standard all-wheel drive, the 0-60 mph sprint takes 4.3 seconds and the top speed is over 160 mph.
Debuting at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, this SUV will be one of several high-end debuts at the prestigious event. The new Range Rover SV Black is will be available to order later in 2025. We don’t know the price yet, but the normal Range Rover SV begins at $213,200, so this would could easily cost north of $230k when it goes on sale.
