- Porsche Design sells a three-piece aluminum trolley set for $5,450.
- The aluminum shell uses vehicle-grade 3D-forming technology.
- Its closure mimics the solid sound of a Porsche 911 door.
Porsche is well aware that, for the average Zuffenhausen enthusiast, the sensory experience doesn’t end when the ignition is switched off. For many owners, the small mechanical details are part of the appeal. The precise click of a switch and the heavy “thud” of a door closing are part of the brand’s identity.
In that same spirit, Porsche is now trying to bring a familiar sensory detail to airport terminals with its Porsche Design Aluminum Trolley Collection.
The luggage set, called the Roadster Aluminum Trolley, has just launched in Japan following its rollout in the US and other markets last year. One detail stands out immediately. The locking mechanism uses snap clasps engineered to deliver a “rich, solid sound reminiscent of the moment a Porsche door is closed.”

As you might expect, this is not simply a silver luggage with a Porsche Design badge attached. The anodised aluminum shell, offered in silver or black, is formed using the same 3D-forming technology applied in Porsche’s vehicle production, allowing the case to use a rivet-free frame.
The concave rib design nods to the styling of the 911 Targa’s roll hoop, while the concave corners and edges help improve impact resistance when the case inevitably encounters airport baggage conveyors.

Porsche offers the suitcase in three sizes, small, medium, and large. Each rides on ball-bearing double wheels designed for “quiet and smooth running,” finished with a tidy five-spoke look. They also feature an ergonomic aluminum trolley handle, along with a leather-wrapped top handle available in several colors.
Porsche does not say whether the full three-piece set will fit inside a 911. The photos suggest at least one suitcase can slide into the frunk, and another would likely fit behind the front seats if you pack carefully. Anyone traveling in a Panamera or Cayenne, however, will have far fewer packing constraints.
That brings us to the price tag, which sits in the same premium territory Porsche occupies in the car world. The small trolley is priced at $1,650, the medium at $1,850, and the large at $1,950, for a combined $5,450 if you want the full trio.
Porsche being Porsche, there are also a few optional extras. Buyers can add a leather handle set in various colors for $135, while replacement wheel sets cost between $135 and $145, depending on the size of the suitcase.
