Ford’s decision to revive the sport truck formula with the F-150 Lobo and Maverick Lobo has clearly stirred its rivals. After teasers released over the weekend, Ram enters the street truck conversation with its own contender, though not directly from the factory floor.
The Fox Factory Vehicles‘ Ram 1500 Lowered DC650 steps into the ring as a fully built, turn-key machine based on the 2026 Ram 1500 Big Horn Night Edition. Mind you, this is not a factory-backed street truck like the F-150 Lobo, but it carries official Direct Connection DNA, a nod to Stellantis’ in-house performance arm, making it a worthy response to Ford’s renewed interest in high-performance street pickups.

Injected with Direct Connection DNA
Underneath the familiar Ram 1500 sheetmetal, Fox Factory has gone all-in on performance and stance, thanks to Direct Connection. The DC650 sits lower and wider, thanks to a Ridetech coilover lowering system that drops the front by three inches and the rear by 5.5 inches. The setup sharpens handling through tubular control arms, adjustable Fox coilovers, and traction bars to limit wheel hop under heavy throttle.
Complementing the chassis are 22-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in 305/40R22 performance tires, along with a front splitter, rear spoiler, and a gold graphics package that accentuates its street-focused look.
Power comes from a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 fitted with a Gen 6 Whipple 3.0-liter twin-screw supercharger, producing 650 horsepower – 250 more than the F-150 Lobo. The setup features a massive intercooler, air-to-water heat exchanger, and integrated bypass valve. It also retains Ram’s eTorque mild-hybrid system, which smooths out low-speed response and helps with off-the-line launches. Exhaust gases exit through a T304 stainless steel Cat-Back dual system with 4-inch black tips, designed to improve flow while eliminating cabin drone.
Inside, the truck features custom black leather seats with gold stitching, “Direct Connection” embroidery, and a serialized console badge.
Fox Factory Vehicles
Significantly Pricier Than the F-150 Lobo
Despite its focus on performance, the DC650 keeps its utility intact. It’s rated to tow up to 11,320 pounds and haul 1,910 pounds, maintaining Ram’s core truck capability. The Crew Cab comes standard with a 5-foot-7-inch bed configuration.
The Fox Factory Vehicles’ Ram 1500 DC650 starts at $89,995 with a $4,045 option for 4×4 and $1,085 for the custom leather interior – way pricier than the $59,995 F-150 Lobo. Buyers can choose from six factory colors: Bright White, Diamond Black, Hydro Blue, Forged Blue, Granite Crystal, and Silver Zynith. All turn-key units come with a three-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, or up to 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
