This is the day that the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
This is such a simple verse. But one that can make a big difference in my life and how I travel through each day. Its message is well worth remembering each day. Rejoice in the day the Lord has made.
Each day is not literally created anew. But God is the creator of all that is: the sun that we orbit, the earth that rotates on its axis every 24 hours, the glories of the heavens, and the wonders of the earth. Regardless of how long we believe it took, God has made it all, including today.
Today is a new day—a day filled with potential and opportunity. Yesterday is only a memory, and tomorrow is but a dream. But today is where I am. It is a day to live and breathe. A day to work and play. A day to spend with family and friends. But, most of all, a day to spend with my Lord. A day that he has made for me.
Your day might be hard, it might be easy, or anywhere in between. But regardless of what it holds, we can rejoice in the Lord who created it. And who will be with us each step of the way.
This is a matter of attitude. When I go through the day rejoicing in the Lord, I can do so with a smile on my face, knowing that nothing I face is bigger than my Lord. It is when I take my eyes off of him that the worries and struggles of life can become overwhelming.
So, know that today is a day the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it (Phil. 4:4, 8). And see what a difference it will make.
