San Francisco Art Book Fair Returns With More Programming Than Ever

For the third year in a row, Minnesota Street Project Foundation presents the San Francisco Art Book Fair (SFABF), taking place July 10–13, 2025, in the city’s Dogpatch neighborhood. One of the most anticipated free, large-scale annual Bay Area arts events, SFABF celebrates art publishing and print culture, bringing together independent publishers, artists, designers, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world. The fair helps sustain the creation and distribution of printed material by supporting the independent publishing community, fostering engagement, and placing the unique history and perspectives of the Bay Area in dialogue with national and international publishing communities. 

SFABF25 welcomes over 150 independent exhibitors, 30 of whom are international, traveling from countries including Australia, Indonesia, Japan, and Nicaragua. The fair showcases a wide range of printed material, including artists’ books, zines, monographs, art catalogues, periodicals, and more. 

Adding to the excitement, Minnesota Street Project Foundation is expanding SFABF programming this year. Visitors are invited into the Screening Gallery and Exhibition Warehouse at 1201 Minnesota Street to experience new and never-before-seen programs, including the West Coast debut of 2024 Paris Photo – Aperture PhotoBook Awards and a series of screening programs curated by San Francisco Cinematheque. 

SFABF25 visitors can also experience a variety of book launches, signings, and special projects, with programming curated by David Senior, Director of Library at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), presented by exhibitors and local arts organizations, including Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, Letterform Archive, San Francisco Center for the Book, / (Slash), the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, and more. 

SFABF fundraiser editions by two Bay Area artists will also be available: a screen print by Sarah Hotchkiss produced with Poppy Press, and a limited number of unique multiples by Sean McFarland produced with Lightsource SF.
