Wind, Woods, and Total Peak Performance!
We are still catching our breath after an absolutely epic Ski Moms x Sunday River weekend! From technical deep-dives to charging through the trees, this weekend was a testament to the community of women who make the mountain magic happen—no matter what the Maine weather throws our way.

Saturday: Gear, Grit, and Great Company
We kicked things off with our “Total Peak Performance” après event, and it was a game-changer. A massive thank you to Kristin and Heidi from Sunday River Sports for taking us through the “ins and outs” of boots, custom fitting, and how to properly demo and select skis. We flew through two hours of expert gear talk and easily could have stayed for two more!
Afterward, we headed into Bethel for a fantastic dinner at Modern Barn. It was the perfect way to wrap up the day—swapping stories, making new “Ski Mom” friends, and fueling up for the mountain.

Sunday: Movement & The Mountains
Sunday morning started with a session to get our bodies mountain-ready led by Dr. Jessica (Jess) Buja of Mountain Range of Motion. With 20+ years of experience as a licensed physical therapist, Jess knew exactly how to prep us for a big day on the slopes.
Then, it was time to ride. Despite some wind-related lift closures, this crew didn’t miss a beat! Led by our incredible Sunday River Mom ambassadors, we tackled most of the mountain’s peaks. Some groups carved up the morning corduroy while others dove into the bumps and glades. The conditions were absolutely peak, and we are so glad we didn’t let the chill stop us from getting our turns in.

The Heart of the Mission
We warmed up at the lodge with a lunch that reminded us why we do this. We were honored to hear from Amy at Maine Adaptive and Emily (@EmandKids). Hearing how Emily’s daughter, Abby, has thrived and how they’ve become a “ski family” through the power of adaptive skiing was a beautiful, emotional reminder of the importance of accessibility on the snow.
Dynamite Demo DayNew skis?
Yes please! While the Ski Moms headed off in groups, Ski Mom Kristen met with Heidi from Sunday River Sports to demo skis. While demo options can be found at many resorts, Sunday River takes it a step further and offers an optional guide to accompany you. Heidi asks about your skiing style and preferences, and moves you through different sets of skis, following behind to evaluate your turns. The right skis make you feel like you almost could be competing at the Olympic games, and after four pairs of skis, and validation from a professional, Kristen knew she had found the perfect pair. Taking the time to try out different sets of skis always proves to be money well spent, and the experience at Sunday River adds so much value. The proof is in the purchase – Kristen couldn’t leave without them. Next time you’re at Sunday River take advantage of this rare and perfect opportunity to demo.
Lodging at Sunday River
Some of the Ski Moms stayed at the flagship hotel at Sunday River, the Grand Summit Hotel. Located at the White Cap base area with a ski in/out location, it’s the perfect set up. A valet welcomes you out front to help deliver your bags or park your car if you choose. The lobby is large and welcoming with a friendly staff and a full service restaurant on site. A firepit outside has s’mores available for families to enjoy, and a heated outdoor pool and hot tub to complete the list of everything needed for a perfect ski getaway . As a frequent traveler, I appreciate a spacious room with a really comfortable bed and pillows, and while the hotel isn’t new nor fancy, I’d take a great night of sleep with the right mattress over brand new decor any day. Definitely Ski Mom approved. Book your stay here.

The Epic Goody Bags
No one went home empty-handed! Our moms were treated to a massive haul of swag. A huge thank you to our partners: L.L.Bean | Alpine Viking | Mabels Labels | Hootie Hoo | Grady Organics | The Gripsta | Maine Adaptive | Sunday River | Mountain Glow Skincare. A final thank you to Sunday River. You were an incredible host mountain, and we are so grateful for your support of The Ski Moms and our mission to get more families out on the snow. We’re already dreaming of an even bigger event next season!
