East Penn Manufacturing Co. has been producing batteries and energy storage systems in Temple since 2022. And now, the company is looking at a $110 million expansion.
The company has hit up the Temple City Council for a tax abatement agreement to expand operations at 5101 Wendland Drive. It’s 393,000-square-foot battery finishing and distribution center facility could grow by 175,000 square feet if the two groups can come to terms on a tax abatement agreement.
When the company was building its facility in 2022, it received $1.4 million in deal-closing grants through the state’s Texas Enterprise Fund that required the company to invest $106 million and create 260 jobs. The site currently has 350 employees.
