When Tesla announced it was introducing its own vehicle insurance, CEO Elon Musk claimed “vastly better” services with policies better tailored to what the company has described as affordability problems. Apparently, its customers were complaining that their cars were too expensive to insure. The California Department of Insurance is now taking action against Tesla and its insurance entities, stating that Tesla Insurance is actually causing harm to drivers in the state and failing to meet its legal obligations.
