The Ontario-built Ford Mustang GTD initially laid down a Nürburgring lap time of 6:57.685 in 2024, though conditions were less-than stellar. An additional attempt was made in 2025 under more favorable conditions, and the fastest-ever Mustang’s lap time has been accordingly updated to 6:52.072 – putting it in the same ballpark as the Lamborghini Huracán Performante. This means not only is the Mustang GTD the first American car with a lap time in sub-7-minute territory, it’s also the fastest American car ever around the track.
