While the internal combustion engine is fighting its own battles against the onslaught of electric powertrains that have started to flood the market over the past decade, another old-fashioned technology looks to have already lost its fight. The trusty supercharger has all been banished from existence by the turbocharger, with only a small handful of mass-produced cars on sale in the US still being offered with one.
