These days, you have more than a few ways to achieve immense horsepower. There are twin-turbos, mild-hybrids, plug-ins, and EVs, and automakers can squeeze 400 hp and more out of four and six-cylinder engines. Power output has been, if not trivialized by newer automotive technology, at least democratized. But there’s still nothing like doing it the old-fashioned way, with eight cylinders in a V formation thumping away at a high RPM.
