Jonathan Simms has only been on the job for a few months, but he seems very excited in his new role as director of McLaren Special Operations. Simms sat down with CarBuzz at the Goodwood Festival of Speed to discuss his priorities for the supercar manufacturer’s customization arm, to which he’ll bring former experience as a validation engineer for BMW and Mini, head of Rolls-Royce Bespoke, and director at the Ferrari restoration company GTO Engineering. And apart from his clear enthusiasm for modern supercars like the 750S and Artura, Simms also dreams of lavishing some MSO attention on the original “mainstream” Mclaren, the MP4-12C and its 650S successor.
