Singer may have started the current Porsche 911 restomodding craze, but a slew of other companies have emerged in recent years with their own modernized takes on classic 911s. One of the most prominent firms from the UK to do this is Theon Design, and its latest commission, which took over 18 months to build, might just be its most impressive to date.
No doubt the highlight of the car is the engine. It is an air-cooled 3.8-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six that includes independent throttle bodies and develops 407 hp at 7,600 rpm and 293 lb-ft (397 Nm) of torque. While the 4.0-liter engine you’ll find in a new 911 GT3 has a 100 hp advantage, Theon’s car weighs just 1,150 kg (2,535 lbs), some 312 kg (688 lbs) less than a GT3. Clearly, it should be an absolute joy to drive.

Theon Design has added an adjustable exhaust to the car, allowing it to operate quietly in town or to scream when on the open road. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
There’s plenty more to like about the mechanical package of the car. It’s been fitted with TracTive semi-active suspension, designed to cope with the poorest roads in the UK, and even features a lift kit, perfect for navigating steep driveways and speed bumps. It also features the brakes of a 993-gen Porsche 911 Carrera RS and sits on custom 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

What other upgrades have been made?
Like other projects from Theon Design, the donor car was stripped back to its bare metal, and the structure was strengthened with new seam welding. It has then been fitted with lightweight carbon fiber body parts painted in Ice Green Metallic, accented by Polished Eclipse Chrome elements.
The interior is just as much a work of art as the exterior. Found inside are Recaro CS seats with carbon fiber backs, gray Alcantara, custom-made gauges, and a hidden Alpine head unit complete with six Focal speakers.
Buying a car like this from Theon doesn’t come cheap. In fact, its commissions start at £420,000 ($564,000) for Coupe models like this, and that does not include the cost of the donor car.
