The Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid made its debut in 2005. It was the first hybrid truck on sale in the USA, and looked set to change the way folks do their trucking. In the same year, Ford launched its Escape Hybrid SUV. Ultimately, the 380-hp Silverado failed to capture any kind of market share, with customers sticking to the tried-and-tested internal combustion versions.
