Some people think that the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is too outrageous for its own boots. On the one hand, it’s supposed to be a three-row family SUV for the practical things in life, but on the other, it can rip from zero to 60 in around three and a half seconds due to its supercharged V8 heart. Dodge doesn’t seem to care that regulators frown on its creation and, in fact, doesn’t mind that it’s now off limits to around a third of Americans. Instead, the company is plowing ahead with a 2026 version of the Durango SRT Hellcat, and a slightly less unhinged Durango R/T 392. Why are some Americans unable to play with the Hellcat, and why doesn’t Dodge really mind in any case?
