Data center development continues at a site in southeast Plano. Aligned Data Centers is advancing on the construction of a 425,000-square-foot, two-story building at 601 N. Star Road.
It’s being developed in phases for Lambda Inc., a cloud-computing company backed by Nvidia. The $700 million project will eventually have 72 megawatts of computing power and is expected to be fully completed next year
The first 9 megawatts will be ready for Lambda to begin installing servers in June, with additional capacity coming online in 9-megawatt increments as construction progresses. Work on the project began in 2024. In addition to Aligned, the development team includes Turner Construction Co., Olsson, WSP and Corgan.
Construction crews have completed the building shell and an electrical substation nearby and installed power equipment.
Lambda’s new data center will include 12 data halls, each about 20,000 square feet. Each hall will contain 16 to 20 rows of servers, with roughly 40 racks per row.
