Untouchable?
Certain supercar classics are considered untouchable, meaning that any modification not adhering to OEM specs is borderline sacrilegious. The Porsche Carrera GT falls into that category, as one of the purest supercar experiences ever put into production. Yet, someone has decided that they weren’t satisfied with the current spec of their personal Carrera GT.
Luckily for this owner, Porsche’s bespoke Sonderwunsch program has extended its services to legacy models, which means the Carrera GT can now be redone to a more personal level. In this case, a very low-mileage example has been passed through Sonderwunsch expert hands and is now up for sale in a very one-of-one configuration.

Purple Rain
Posted on the duPont Registry is a 448-mile 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. What makes this Carrera GT stand out from all the others is that it has been sent back to Porsche, specifically Sonderwunsch, to undergo what they call a recommissioning project. What Sonderwunsch did was basically return this Carrera GT to as close to brand-new condition as possible, which features a complete rebuild of the car in all aspects.
The car itself was stripped back down to just the bare carbon monocoque in Stuttgart, while the body panels were being repainted in a very unique exposed Amethyst Purple-tinted carbon fiber colorway. Other aesthetic upgrades were added, like the headlight cleaners, wheels, engine cover, side blinkers, grilles, and badging being redone in Slate Grey.
Its interior has also been completely redone in a combination of Slate Grey Alcantara and Speed Yellow stitching, which can be found on the doors, steering wheel, lower dashboard, and A-pillar. Some of the other interior pieces have also been replaced with Matte Carbon material, including the iconic wooden manual shift knob (gasp).

Price? Well, If You Have to Ask…
Another major project happened under the hood, where Porsche overhauled the engine to an astonishing “zero-mile condition,” basically making the engine perform like new.
The listing on the duPont Registry website doesn’t give out the asking price, instead asking interested people to “call for the price.” However, looking at the market, Carrera GTs are already some of the most expensive modern classics you can buy, with a market value that ranges well above the $1.5 million mark. Could this purple car be worth more because of its uniqueness and complete Sonderwunsch rebuild? We’ll have to wait and see.
