Audi is putting a finer point on its adventure-ready luxury wagon with the unveiling of the all-new 2027 A6 Allroad. It has a more rugged design, greater capability and, in a first for the model, a plug-in hybrid option to power it.

This fifth-generation A6 Allroad is built to appeal to those who want the driving dynamics and style of a premium wagon but don’t want to give up on SUV-like utility. To that end, the new car comes with a choice of electrified powertrains, standard adaptive air suspension and quattro all-wheel drive, all set on a much wider stance.
There is no mistaking the 2027 A6 Allroad for the rest of the A6 lineup. Audi has made the body 111 millimeters wider than the standard Avant for a more muscular look, and added unique front and rear fascias, black cladding and reworked wheel arches. Standard 19-inch wheels are part of the package, though you can have them as large as 21 inches if you prefer.

The styling is meant to be tough, and the ride height is higher to match. In fact, the new model sits 34 mm above the A6 Avant, with the adaptive air system allowing for further adjustments to suit the Allroad’s go-anywhere character.
But the headline act is what you will find under the hood.
Audi is making the A6 Allroad e-hybrid available for the first time. Mating an electric motor to a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder yields a combined 367 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. You can expect a 0-62 mph run in 5.5 seconds.
The 25.9-kWh battery gives you up to 95 km (59 miles) of range on the WLTP cycle and can be fully recharged in about two and a half hours at 11 kW. Drivers can also put the car in EV or Hybrid mode and use one of several regenerative braking settings to manage energy consumption.

In Europe, if you prefer diesel, Audi has not abandoned it. The 3.0-liter V6 TDI is still on offer, now with some electrified help from the MHEV Plus mild-hybrid system. An integrated electric compressor and generator put an end to turbo lag and add as much as 24 hp of assistance for a total of 299 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. Audi claims the V6 version will hit 62 mph in 5.4 seconds with better efficiency and more punch than the old model.
The Allroad nameplate is all about capability, so the new car comes with the works. Adaptive air suspension is standard, giving you up to 55 mm of adjustment. Put it in Offroad or Offroad+ mode and the vehicle will raise itself and fine-tune the traction control for whatever low-grip surface you are on, be it snow or sand.
All-wheel steering is also standard on the plug-in hybrid (optional on the V6), turning the rear wheels opposite to the fronts at low speed for easy maneuvering and in unison at higher speeds for stability.

Step inside and you will see Audi’s latest digital cockpit. The dash is taken over by a curved OLED arrangement of an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch screen. There is even an optional 10.9-inch display for the passenger to handle navigation or stream content.
You can spec out the cabin with massaging and ventilated seats, a dimmable panoramic roof, acoustic glass and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. Audi has also integrated ChatGPT into its AI voice assistant.
And for practicality, fold down the rear seats and you have 1,497 liters of cargo room. Add a roof basket and hitch and you are ready to tow; the V6 can pull 5,512 lbs and the hybrid 4,409 lbs.
Expect to see the 2027 A6 Allroad in showrooms across Europe this fall. The V6 TDI will set you back €77,250, with the new plug-in hybrid starting at €80,250.

Word has not yet come out of Audi on U.S. plans, but with the market moving toward electrified alternatives to the usual luxury SUVs, the arrival of a PHEV may well mean the allroad has a future in North America.
