Mercedes-Benz and BMW are in the process of launching the newest versions of their compact luxury sports sedans, and each of them have led the redesigns with their electric versions. They’re taking different approaches with powertrains, though. The electric BMW i3 and combustion 3 Series will share the same platform. Mercedes, however, is giving the EV a completely new platform and body. The combustion model will keep using the current C-Class platform dressed up to look like the EV.
