The Chevrolet Corvette has always been America’s true sports car; throughout each generation, it has striven to challenge and be just as good as any sports car offering from around the world.
Since it’s been around for decades and has proudly represented true American engineering, it naturally makes sense to use the Corvette as a symbol of being a proud American, just as some owners did on a special day.

Corvette Flag Day
June 14 celebrates Flag Day, and to commemorate this very special day, a couple of Corvette owners decided to invite other owners from all over the country for a special celebration. One of the key people behind the gathering, Larry Courtney, and his wife, brought together a unique group of Corvettes to Belle Isle in Detroit.
They used 300 cars to form what they believe is the largest Corvette-made American flag ever. Such was the magnitude of the event that Chevrolet was even there to show support, bringing the new Stars & Steel-edition Corvettes and the new 2027 Grand Sport to Belle Isle. Corvette subject-matter experts Garrett Kerns, Bryan Lake, and Mandy Gregory were also on-site to spend the day speaking with owners and enthusiasts alike, offering more in-depth conversations.

Not Just For Fun
Courtney is a lifelong car enthusiast and has owned multiple Corvettes over the years, but he and his wife have put nearly 200,000 miles on his 1999 Corvette convertible. Now enjoying retirement, he spends most of his time as a dedicated organizer for the Corvette community. One of his biggest achievements was in 2014, when he brought together 350 cars at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Since it’s also America’s 250th birthday, Courtney says the event has chosen four charities to highlight and support. Those include Operation Homefront, Helmets to Hardhats, Veterans Court of Wayne County, and the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers fund, each of which supports our country’s veterans.
