Gorman & Co. is building 83 affordable housing units on the campus of Trinity United Methodist Church, a 100-year-old landmark that will remain intact. Groundbreaking is expected this summer.
The Sanctuary, will be built on a 0.44-acre site, owned by the church, that is located across the street from Atlanta City Hall. In 2024, Invest Atlanta approved a $2 million tax allocation district grant for the project. Other financing sources include federal and state low-income housing tax credits, a deferred developer fee, deferred land payments to the church and debt.
This project at 265 Washington St. will offer units for those making 30 to 80% of the area median income and will primarily target senior households. The project will feature other common amenities such as a community room, fitness room, library and an outdoor gathering space. Urbanize Atlanta reports the project’s costs are estimated at $41 million.
