When the Audi R8 debuted as a concept car at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, it did so with the promise of entering the supercar market and dismantling the barrier between clinical German engineering and raw Italian passion. A few years later, the first production model rolled off the line in 2006, and the intent was clear: this was Audi’s new, definitive “halo car.” Central to its identity is the Audi R8 0–60 sprint, a metric that evolved from 4.4 seconds in the early V8 models to a face-distorting 3.1 seconds in the final (automatic) iterations.
