With the Bronco Desert Rising Edition, Ford is making a statement with a bold new special edition for its Bronco roster. The new package is the first of a kind in the Horizon Series, a line of factory customization options that will be put on offer via Ford Custom Garage and is expected to grow in time.
There is more to the Desert Rising Edition than putting some decals and wheels on a vehicle. For this one, based on the Outer Banks model, Ford has drawn on the character of Utah’s deserts for inspiration. The color scheme is meant to echo the vivid pinks and purples of the Great Salt Lake at certain times of year, the berry tones of the Coral Pink Sand Dunes at daybreak or dusk, and the magenta you might see on a cactus after a good rain.
Optional body-side graphics provide an abstract take on those desert landscapes for the exterior, though it is up to the buyer to decide if they want the added visual flair. Inside, the cabin is appointed with exclusive Katzkin two-tone leather in black and magenta, complete with contrast stitching and matching accents on the grab handles. Method wheels with their own center caps, trail sights and a tailgate badge are part of the deal as well. A serialized badge on the center console is the final touch to underscore the limited nature of the build.
Capability has not been compromised for the sake of style. The Sasquatch Package comes standard, so the Bronco has the hardware for any trail without giving up the comfort one expects from the Outer Banks trim.
The Bronco Desert Rising Edition can be had in Oxford White, Shadow Black, Avalanche Gray or Ruby Red and is priced at $13,695. Ford is currently taking orders.
