Genesis Finally Reveals the Missing Piece
Genesis showed off the GV60 Magma last year as the first member of its new Magma performance family, but left us all hanging on the most important detail: the price tag.
Now, Genesis has finally revealed that the 2027 GV60 Magma starts at $69,950, before you add the $1,545 destination fee. That makes it the priciest GV60 so far, but it doesn’t tower over the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N as you might think.
The timing is curious. Just this month, Hyundaislashed the 2027 Ioniq 5 N’s starting price to $59,900 – a hefty $6,300 drop from last year. That price overlap makes Hyundai’s move to make the Ioniq 5 N more wallet-friendly look a lot less random.
Sure, these two EVs are aimed at different crowds, but under the skin, they’re built on the same Hyundai Motor Group bones and both chase after drivers who want real electric thrills. The Genesis, of course, piles on the luxury and exclusivity you’d expect from the badge.

More Than Just a Luxury Ioniq 5 N
Genesis isn’t just asking for more cash because of some extra leather and fancy trim. The GV60 Magma packs a seriously reworked dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that cranks out over 600 horsepower. Hit Boost Mode, and you’re looking at 641 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque.
Performance hardware? There’s plenty. You get an electronic limited-slip diff, unique aero tweaks, forged 21-inch wheels with beefier tires, and Magma-only suspension and chassis tuning.
As with the Ioniq 5 N, the GV60 Magma’s Virtual Gear Shift fakes the sensation of rowing through gears like an old-school performance car, and Active Sound Design+ pumps in synthetic engine noises inspired by the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Want to mix things up? Pick from GT Mode, Sprint Mode, Launch Control, Drift Mode, or Boost Mode, depending on how wild you’re feeling.
Inside, Genesis goes all-in with its first-ever performance bucket seats, wrapped in suede and stitched in Magma Orange. There’s a massive 27-inch OLED display, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a laundry list of driver-assist tech.

Genesis says the GV60 Magma will hit select showrooms in California, New York, and New Jersey in the next few weeks. Buyers get four exterior color options, including the eye-searing, signature Magma Orange.
The GV60 is just the opening act for Genesis’ new Magma sub-brand. The company already confirmed the Magma badge will spread to more models, with the G80 Magma Special giving us a taste of what’s next. Expect future Magma cars to stick to the same recipe: Genesis luxury, but with a heavy dose of extra performance and driver fun, not limited to EVs.
