Salad and Go, a made-to-order fast-casual spot dishing up salads, wraps and breakfast options, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and revealed all locations will close down immediately. Founded in Gilbert, the chain has more than 60 stores in Arizona as well as a large distribution center on 27th Avenue in Phoenix.
The co-founders of Salad and Go exited back in 2021 after selling to an investment firm.
The distressed financial situation of the company was exacerbated by the recent Cyclospora scare. In a company release, the company said, “The Cyclospora outbreak in July, in which Salad and Go was not implicated, weakened confidence across the industry and compounded these challenges.” The company had been steadily closing locations before the latest announcements.
The Chapter 11 process will provide Salad and Go a court-supervised framework for the company to realize the value of its assets and to meet its obligations.
