Back in 2010, Honda wanted to capitalize on the nostalgia of its CR-X sports coupe, which was built from 1983 to 1991. That car was technically succeeded by the del Sol, which lasted from 1992 to 1998, but it was too different from its predecessor to be considered a faithful followup. So when the Honda CR-Z arrived over a decade later, CR-X enthusiasts should have been thrilled to finally have a car that was a true spiritual successor. There was just one major problem: the CR-Z was kind of a flop.
