It’s fascinating to see how the different bits of equipment that we now take for granted in our road cars first turned up, as they weren’t always so useful and reliable. It’s very rare for a new piece of technology to work perfectly out of the box, and they normally need a decent-sized runway to develop far enough to become adopted as the norm. This scenario is the one that played out for the digital driver’s display screen, which is something featured on pretty much every new model on the market today.
