Among the various policies and initiatives the Trump administration has put into place affecting the car industry, the arguably most impactful have been tariffs. While intended to encourage more manufacturing in the U.S., they’ve also cost automakers, both foreign and domestic, billions of dollars. Automakers got a bit of a reprieve when especially high 25% tariffs were struck down by the Supreme Court, and Europe negotiated a 15% tariff on American-bound goods. That may not last much longer, though, and Audi is in a particularly vulnerable position.
