Borusan Contemporary presents two new exhibitions opening on September 19, 2026: Olivo Barbieri: Time Space Geometry, the Italian photographer’s first solo exhibition in Türkiye, and Haunted, a collection exhibition exploring the visual culture of the digital age.
Curated by Dr. Fırat Arapoğlu, Olivo Barbieri: Time Space Geometry brings together works from five major series spanning more than four decades of the artist’s practice. Moving from ancient archaeological sites and contemporary cities to waterfalls, the Alps, and Capri, the exhibition examines how scale, perspective, and optical intervention shape our perception of place. It also features a newly commissioned series for the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection, focusing on nine ancient cities across Türkiye. Presented for the first time, these photographs of Barbieri’s transform familiar landscapes into images that appear both recognizable and strange, asking how places are seen, remembered, and reconstructed.
Curated by Dr. Kumru Eren, Director of Borusan Contemporary, Haunted brings together works from the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection by artists including Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Memo Akten, teamLab, Quayola, Zimoun, DRIFT, Marco Brambilla, and Daniel Canogar, alongside works on paper by Kemal Önsoy. Rather than treating technology simply as a medium, the exhibition considers how artificial intelligence, algorithms, data technologies, and digital culture increasingly shape the images through which reality is produced, perceived, and remembered.
Presented in parallel at Borusan Contemporary in Istanbul, the two exhibitions explore how images mediate our understanding of the world — from landscapes shaped by the act of looking to realities increasingly formed by computational systems.Â
